I am running 3CX on a laptop connected to a Cisco switch talking to other laptops, extension-to-extension. When I speak into one of the laptop headsets I get a lag of about 1/2 second before I hear my voice from the other laptop. If I dial *777 and listen directly to my own voice on the same computer I still get a lag of about 1/4 second. Does anyone know what could be causing this lag, half within the 3CX Phone 6 softphone software and over the network? Thanks.

In most VoIP calls there is a slight lag due to the coding, encoding and buffering process, in your case it may be even more so due to the processors (speed) on your laptops. For the most part it is not noticeable because you usually aren't calling yourself. It can also happen on long distance calls (especially a call sent over a satellite), and mobile calls, but again , unless the echo suppressors are not working correctly it won't be that noticeable to each caller.
