Hello,
We like to transfer from Windows to Debian.
I've read that one have to deinstall Windows 3cx to give the license free bevore you can apply the License to the new 3cx on Debian.
Of course i'd like to test if everything is working fine with the new Debian Version.
How can i provide Continuity?
if I uninstall the Windowsversion i have no possibility to fall back to the old Configuration.if something is not working.

Is the Licence bound to the IP Address?
Best case in this scenario would be to simply shut down the Windowsversion and turn on the Debian, restore the Backup incl. License.
If it turns out that there are some troubles during the day, i could anytime shut debian down and fire up windows so the continuity of the service is not interrupted.

Does some have experiences Will this work

Hi Waldo,

The license is not tied to Windows or Debian. Just take a full backup off of the Windows machine, and shut it down.

Then install the Debian edition, assign it the IP address if your Windows machine, and during the installation you will restore your backup.

As soon as the instance is ready, all your phones will continue to work normally, and all your firewall rules should still apply like before.

The Windows machine stays shut down, so in case anything goes wrong, you can simply turn off Debian (to free the IP), and start up Windows again.

Thank you very much John.
I hoped to get this Answer ;-)

Bonjour John,

sorry about the language
Soon I will be posting in English.

Hello John,
Thanks for your Answer here so far, I have the same problem as Waldo.
But for me, I would like to switch from the Virtualize system of Windows 10 to a physical system of Windows 10.
and that by installing 3CX on my new server, and logging in with the same credentials, and the same license, I will have all my data as on the old system? and the license will be active?

Yes, that is correct. Make sure you get a full backup from the VM, and when installing on the physical system, choose the option to restore your backup.

The license and all your settings will be restored as before.

Worked like a charm!
thx
Tibor
