Hi, I'm sure there's a simple answer to this, but I'm testing out Live Chat and I have noticed two peculiar things:
  • When I open the chat box, I can't type in the name or email input boxes. When I inspect the HTML, I see that they have a disabled attribute. Why is that, it doesn't seem right?
  • To open the chat box, I can't click on the entirety of the circular icon, only the very top "12 o'clock" position of it seems to be clickable.
Why might this be? I've put a screenshot of what I am seeing below.
Thank you

If you open the LiveChat URL in your browser directly, do the fields work?

A good test idea - no, they don't, and the HTML attribute appears exactly as before. Thank you!

Edit, with some more information: I've just been playing with this, and I've noticed that the name and email persist, they're kept in local storage: {"name":"Daniel","email":"[email protected]"}

As long as that key exists, the boxes are disabled, as though they are behaving write once. If I modify the key values and refresh the page, they update the input boxes, but they remain disabled. If I delete the key, I get prompted for new values, that are then set write once.

Is this by design?

Hello, Daniel,
Yes this is by design. You entered your name and email earlier and LiveChat saves it. In current version we don't have ability to update user's name/e-mail.

Hi Dmitry, thank you for confirming this - it's not the behaviour I would choose, because our reservations team might on occasion wish to change the details within a session, but it's good to know it's working as it should.

The clickable area of the chat button was a conflict with the rest of the web page that I was hosting it on, I've moved it to a blank page and everything is as it should be.

Thank you, this is resolved.
Daniel
