Can local USB call recording work on Yealink T42S using 3CX Standard free version?
I inserted a local USB but could not find the record button.
I checked the yealinkT4x.ph.xml template and it shows it is enabled below
features.usb_call_recording.enable
account.1.features.usb_call_recording.enable

Does Call Recording in the Extension Options affect local USB recording? I tried turning it on, no effect.

if I try to correct this with a custom template by changing
features.usb_call_recording.enable = 1
is there a way to make 3cx dashboard not display red for phones using custom templates?
Can I enable features.usb_call_recording. without using custom template?

The only official way to not trigger the warning is to use the official template, then remove the provisioning link and make manual changes on the phone.

I have not seen an official way to not have a red ! with custom templates.

Hi Tony,

We provide the template according to Yealink's recommendation (they have recording off by default) and there is no way to enable it via the PBX other than custom templates. We provide recording in the PBX system and do not rely on the phone model to support it on USB.

There is good reason for keeping the phones in red, they need to be identified so in case you face any issues your will know your first step would be to return them to default 3CX templates.

Also note that those phones will not receive any updated templates from 3CX if a new patch or firmware is released.

Keep in mind that custom templates make your system unsupported by 3CX, so if you have any issues with it I would recommend to revert back to our default and checking to see if the problems go away before contacting support.

the effort you are willing to spend to "hack" call recording into a standard edition is not on par what the license would cost you. How about you use Softphones to save some $ and buy the PRO edition... just saying.

Just to confirm, I can only selectively record calls in Enterprise, Pro version records all calls and user cannot turn off.
I prefer to record to local USB so it does not use server cpu resources and storage and person can choose to initiate recording on his own. I have limited storage when hosted in cloud.
