Solved Looking for a SIP ATA with proper flash support

Hi All,

as discussed here "Parking call via dial code not working" i am looking for an SIP ATA with proper flash support.

I have my analog phones connected to a 3CX-pbx via a Grandstream HT818 SIP-2-Analog adapter, Everything is working fine except for the proper support of the flash key. What happens is: I am in an ongoing call, if i am pressing the flash key, the caller will be dropped completely and i get a new dial tone.

The problem is the dropped call from the original caller. I tried to play around with the flash options the HT818 provide, but nothing seems to work correctly.

So my question is:

Is there anybody out there with a SIP-ATA (it doesn't has to be Grandstream...) and proper flash support?


The way it should work:

- i got a call and pick-up the phone and after some talking i want to forward the call
- i press the flash key
- the caller is set ONHOLD
- i will get a dialtone
- i dial a new target number
- by hook-on the phone the call gets forwarded to the new target

Hi Jens,

The HT818 you have may very well work fine for your purposes. From the Grandstream HT818 Admin guide we have the timing:



Please note that the hook flash button on your analog handset needs to match the setting of the ATA. If it doesn't the then the flash button will not work, or will cause a hangup. You said you use a Euroset 2020 previously, as you see the manufacturer is also aware of the hook flash so they allow you to change it in the phone. Other analog phones may not allow you to change it. Hope this helps!

ok, that did the trick! I setup the HT818 earlier according to some notes i found with all settings needed for german telephony. The setup for the flash timing was set very strict to 80-80ms. So very little room for interpretation. I never doubted that setting...

(go with Dr. House: Everyone may be lying, every given value may be wrong... ;-) )

At the HT818, the flash setup is diveded in 2 sections. I think section1 is about what should the HT818 do if it receives a flash command from the phone:



Section2 is about the flash timing coming from the phone to be interpreted as sending a flash command:



I changed the setting for the flash timing from 80-80ms to 80-150ms and violá, it's working. At least for the Gigaset 2020, but not with the Panasonic DECT phones. Maybe i have to tune the flash setting a bit more...

I was able to forward a call to an extension, but not to a parking lot "*00" (nothing happens...). I will try to disable the "Call Features" - the internal "*xx" command codes of the HT818



For now, thanks a lot. If i get new information, i will post it here.

Ok, i did the same mistake again.

1) I am in the call, pressing flash, dialing "*00" and i got an error message "your call is forbidden by the administrator". That's because it's an attended transfer to "*00"... (in my opinion this is an unnecessary error, the parking lot could take the line and drop the call by itself if possible)

2) I am in the call, pressing flash, dialing "*87*00" and the caller got connected to the parking lot "*0". I get a new dial tone ("*87" is the blind tranfer control code for the HT818). Everyone can unpark the call by dialing "*10". (*)

3) I am in the call, pressing flash, dialing "11" and i got connected to "11". The caller is ONHOLD. I can talk to "11". If i drop the phone the call is connected to "11".

That sounds good for now. It's a bit unpleasant to have to predial the *87 to park a call, but it's working. Nice.

(*) If i send the caller to "*00", the caller phones display shows exactly that - "*00" - instead of the originally called number/name. Is it possible to send a different text, maybe "call parked..." or so, or do not alter the display at all?

I will check the flash for Panasonic later on...

Ok good hear that you figured it out, that's what I had already mentioned in the other thread, but the flash was preventing you from using it.

Also, you cannot change the display unfortunately, that is the default behavior. They are now in a parking slot and they are actively talking to system extension *00. It should not display the original caller.

Regarding the flash timing for the Panasonic DECT KX-TG68, i expanded the setting to 80-200ms, now it is working.

Exactly, you were right from the beginning...!

I let myself being fooled by the HT818 behavoir, shame on me.

But it should be possible to attach a name to extension *00, like it is possible for every extionsion. So instead of *00 the callers display shows the name send by the 3CX. Would be a nice feature...
