macOS Desktop App Menu Bar Icon

Hi there,

The 3CX Desktop App's Menu Bar Extra on macOS does not follow Apple human interface design guidelines: https://developer.apple.com/design/...tem-experiences/the-menu-bar/#menu-bar-extras



There are several problems here

1. You include the text "3CX Desktop App" next to the icon, this is against the standard followed by almost all apps that just use an icon. Apple say: "Consider using a symbol to represent your menu bar extra." - they never suggest using text for Menu Bar Extras.
2. There is no option to hide the Menu Bar Extra, Apple say: "Let people — not your app — decide whether to enable your menu bar extra."

I have looked around and found other instances where people have asked about the same thing, and there may be more that those linked:

It seems very short sighted to not only ignore the Apple guidelines but also multiple members of the community. Possible fixes could include:

• An option to hide the menu bar extra (and if thinking about cross-platform compatibility, this option could hide the tray icon in Windows)
• An option to hide the text by the icon, which seems to be the main cause of frustration for most users looking at past forum posts
• Or simply hiding the text altogether

Please could this be looked at by the developer team as it has been a recurring issue? If it is not going to be looked at, could you please provide some sort of justification so people stop bothering you about this?

Our team have been complaining of the same issue. UH Engineering has provided a very comprehensive overview and offered three reasonable solutions. We hope the 3CX Development team investigate and determine if one or a few of these solutions can be implemented.
