Hello.
3CX manual describes perfectly, how i can set up inbound fax messages and transfer it to email, here.
But what if i want to send faxes via 3CX station? I must wrote some email, place outbound fax number to this email and attach PDF with image to be sent as fax message. 3CX have this or similar feature?

3CX do not have a native send fax option, only receive.

You can either:-

- Send fax via fax machine over analogue (traditional)
- Send fax via 3CX (requires ATA adapter registered as EXT) - Very unreliable and only works with a) old fax machines that have a low bit rate or b) MFPs which have an option to send fax over VOIP. I've spent a lot of time trying to get an MFP to end via ATA and its not worth the effort.
- Use 3rd party to send fax such as duoFAX (Dont recommend) or soho66.com

3CX does not have a facility to send faxes via the clients - only if you attach a fax machine to 3CX using fxs adapter.

In my experience so long as the realms of support are followed using an FXS gateway is not an issue for FAX so long as you.

* Use a supported gateway: https://www.3cx.com/voip-gateways/
* Use a supported setup method: VPN or local LAN connection only.
* Use a supported reputable provider who supports FAX: https://www.3cx.com/partners/voip-providers/

And most importantly you have the knowledge yourself to get the job done.

Many thanks for replies. I didn't understand one thing - let's imagine, that in front of me is now plugged, connected and configured Patton SmartNode SN4112 (FXS Gateway).
How can i send fax to specific number, if i have my PC, this FXS gateway and 3CX PBX station?
This device (FXS Gateway) periodically checks specific mail for faxes needs to send? Or it have web-interface for fax sending? Or what else i need to send faxes?

Nothing else required if you have a Patton, for the sending of FAX's you would do this from the FAX machine (obviously) and would require an outbound rule on 3CX to be configured for the destination number/area etc: https://www.3cx.com/blog/voip-howto/outbound-rules-a-complete-example/

If your FAX's are failing the machine (and a little troubleshooting) should tell you why.

No, a haven't any physical FAX machine, totally. Can i send faxes without physical FAX? As mail attachment, through a web-interface or something similar? Can you advice any solutions?

No, a haven't any physical FAX machine

Theres your problem then. Even with the Patton gateway you need something to plug into it.

Can i send faxes without physical FAX? As mail attachment,

That would be an email. If you have the gateway and are keen to use FAX and have a gateway already you can pickup a cheap machine on ebay for peanuts these days.

I know some 3CX partners/providers have 3rd party FAX solution equivalents so maybe able to post up another alternative, wait and see.

sure, i can buy physical fax. But the fact is that i don't need physical fax machine - i'm only need device that converts data to fax signal. So i'm looking for anybody, who can advice this solution (i know about online fax portals, but i need local solution, without clouds).
Thanks in advance.

You want a local solution to send a fax without a fax machine..

But you want to do it from your PC, without a fax machine? My friend that is called an email.

Even if you wanted to do it from your PC without the online 3rd party fax over internet, you would have to do it via a fax machine.

Maybe carrier pigeon?

seriously why not using mail to fax solutions , cost is nearly free if low use , just need to have a pdf file to send from your PC or do a scan from a MFP

Fax solution is EOL, today no one want to put a kopeck in a fax.

Ok, i see, explanation needed :)
- We are company, who operate with customers sensitive private data (so we can't use clouds).
- Not every our customer have email (rare customers have only faxes)
- We don't want to use fax machine in our office, at all.

So, rarely we have situation, when remote user have only FAX, but local user have only PC. Local user needs to send data to remote user. Cloud solutions are unacceptable.

PS:I understand, that FAX sending isn't secure, but customer knows and accept this risk.
PPS: I want to provide good solution, without "old ebay faxes for peanuts".

If you want to send a fax from your PC you're going to need to be connected to a landline and have a fax modem. You cant send fax over the internet without some form of hardware or using a third party

If local user has POTS then they'll need to purchase a fax modem PCI card and go down that route.

something has to convert your pages to signals.

Otherwise, start sending letters.

Are you joking , are you trying to say that analogue lines for fax give you confidentiality or security transmission?

Ok, first link from Google: https://www.efax.eu/
I do not need fax modem PCI card to use this service, i need only browser. How can i install similar service locally?

As i wrote before:

If they accept this risk , why are you thinking that a fax to mail solution could be more unsecure than analogue land lines?

You're kidding?

You want a service that takes a document, scans it, converts it then sends it over the internet. (eFax). But you want to do it locally without the hardware that does the converting and sending.

Reasonably. Ok, thank you, noted this as an argument for cloud solutions.

Not without hardware totally. Without hardware at the end user, what is in the server room - this is care of admins.

When you send a fax from an online plateform giving you a real solution , receiver is not aware how you send him your fax, he can't know if you used in house physical fax machine or something else.
