In the setup of the initial DID (I have two) I am required in the SIP TRUNK setup to designate a main extension (I feel is very stupid). After 5pm EVEN THOUGH I HAVE SET the office hours to 11:00 pm US CST All calls still go to the main DID. I want each DID to get their OWN CALLS. Why is this setup this way? Each DID should only be setup under the SIP Trunk section... why this Main extension BS? Can this be skipped?

All I have to say is huh?

If you want your DIDs to go to something other than the default route for the extension, then you use inbound rules for that. If it's not working, then you are either not using a 3CX supported provider, or you configured something incorrectly.

Hello @texmansru47

The main trunk number setup is also used as a catch all destination and it is very useful when you have multiple DIDs but do not want to set an inbound rule for each one.
In your case you can go to the Inbound rules section and set up an inbound rule for each DID. You can also set up specific office hours for each DID there and specific destination for each DID.
For more information please visit our academy page here: https://www.3cx.com/3cxacademy/videos/basic/configuring-voip-providers/

Use the 3CX Activity Log to see why calls go where they do. It will also show you exactly what DID numbers are being sent, and why they may not be matching any DID rules you have created. The number must match exactly, or you may want to look into using wildcards. Call will only route where you have instructed them to go. If there are no valid routing instructions to follow, then calls will go to the "default" destination in 3CX.

I corrected the issue with the inbound rules and that did correct the issues with the DID going to where I want it to go... The problem of no sounds when I called that DID (or either DID) is not there. I can dial the extension fine - talk listen play on hold music but if I dial the DID that is associated to the extension (my cell phone presently) no sound comes out. This USED TO WORK. So I am confused.

We will need more details about your setup and the path the call takes to be to assist.
Also it is not quite clear what the issue is with audio. What is the scenario that you get no audio?

When I dial extension to extension everything is fine. I can hear everything and speak. If I call the DID number that is associated to an extension it rings but there is NO SOUNDS... You cannot hear anything and you cannot be heard.

I assume then that the no audio issue happens when external caller dial one of the DID numbers.

Does it also happen when you receive any other externals calls?

Are the calls being answered on a 3CX extension, or forwarded to an external mobile?

Have you run the 3CX Firewall Checker?

Is there any issue with outbound external calls?

Do you use an external firewall?

So you are dialing a 3CX extension by using its DID which basically sends the call to the provider and the provider is sending the call back to you. Your firewall or your provider may be causing this issue especially if your provider is seeing the call from the same IP and sets your public IP as the contact in the Invite so basically it's telling the PBX to speak to it's self which may not work if your firewall is blocking this type of traffic.
Do you have the same problem when calling the same DID from your mobile phone number?
