Migrating Cloud Providers

Hello,

I have a client that wants to migrate from a small hosting provider to Google Cloud Platform. I figure it should be easy to back up and restore the configuration, but I'd like to use the same local IP for the PBX so I do not have to reprovision all of the phones. They are provisioned as local LAN devices and connect via VPN.

Is there a way to use the PBX express tool but use a custom local IP? Any other advice or recommendations for performing such a move?

If you spin up your own Debian instance you can set the LAN IP before installing 3CX and restoring the backup.

Please note that with PBX express you cannot set the local IP of the instance during the installation as the instance is created automatically.
You can however create the instance manually and select the desired IP address. Then you will need to install the PBX and restore your backup.

Using GCP, would you recommend going through the trouble of uploading the 3CX custom boot image or should using their default Debian image work just fine?

I always do a bare Debian image but it was mentioned that at some point that 3CX will only support installs based on their ISO

I would recommend using the 3CX iso file as it is optimised for running the PBX and IP tables are pre-configured.

Doesn't iptables get a refresh when you run the 3CX install from the CLI?
