I have a new customer who is currently hosted via Google Cloud and we would like to move them back to an On-Site configuration of 3CX. It occurs to me it may be possible to easily do this by simply uninstalling SBC on the current box and then installing 3CX, restoring from a backup of the cloud instance. Will this work?

I guess it depends on your definition of work is. Yes you absolutely can uninstall the SBC and install 3CX and restore the backup, assuming the current SBC environment meets the requirements for 3CX. In that case, 3CX will work. Now if your question is while the phones just work, most likely no, and even if they did, they would be in an unsupported configuration. You would do those steps AND factory reset the phones and re-provision as Local LAN. If these are supported phones then you should just be able to use the PnP method to assign them to their respective extensions, same as what you might have done with the SBC

Hello @DavidAU

I will agree with @cobaltit on this as you will need to reset and re-provision the phones to get them working and provision properly.
I would recommend creating a backup of the current installation without FQDN and licence information and restoring that to the local machine after you power the cloud installation down.
Then factory reset the phones and re-provision them as local devices.

I've done exactly this on a test system. Both local to remote and remote to local.

There was no way I could see to get past having to re-provision. However, a printout of the list of phones on the old system (including mac addresses) comes in very handy when you need to know which phone to provision to which extension in the new one.
