Hello Team,

We have reached the maximum utilization of our 3CX server extensions and we would like to move to 4 digits but from the knowledge base it seems that we have to re-install 3CX and we cannot import or restore from backup to keep our CDRs and other important configurations.

Team Kindly advise if there is away around it to retain the logs and the CDRs when migrating from 3 digits to 4 digits and the existing extensions to be added a leading zero or a trailing zero , honestly start afresh this will be a huge task and will create a lot business disruptions and outages

I'm afraid that there is no other option but to re-configure from scratch as using a backup with a different digit length is not possible. This is why this is stressed in our 3CX Academy:

Installing 3CX - Slide 18

"Next, you must choose the Extension Digit Length of the PBX.

This is a very important decision to make, as this is something that can never be changed unless you reinstall and configure the system from scratch.

A backup and restore, will restore the previous extension digit length. Always factor in future growth when selecting the extension digit length.

Thanks , @ChrisC_3CX for your immediate response, One more thing is it possible to export the extensions from the 3 digits setup to be imported into the new instance of 4 digits more so inbound and outbound rules from 3 digits to import them into 4 digits instance.

Yes, you can export the extensions.

And yes, same for inbound rules.

Thanks @Frederick Marcoux , Sorry forgot to ask one more thing I just need to be sure, I can also export and import connected trunks, and this will not have any effect @ChrisC_3CX

It shouldn't but you need to make sure you use the right "port number" as that may change once you reimport the trunk. That "port" is like the trunk extension number and it is needed for the inbound rules import.
