I'm trying to install 3cx v.16 on a Gigabyte GB-BLPD-5005 minipc with Intel Pentium J5005 / 8GB ram / 120GB SSD via ISO but the boot doesn't start (with Win 8.1 it all starts perfectly). In the BIOS of the minipc you can not remove UEFI to put everything on legacy: maybe something wrong? I have already installed some 3cx on Intel NUC with Celeron J3455 and I never had any problems, but the Intel NUC with Pentium J5005 is not available quickly. I read that Debian9 was tested positively with Intel NUC J5005, but I thought Gigabyte was the same ...
Any help?

Check for BIOS updates and yes, you will likely require UEFI/BIOS dual-boot mode to get it to work.

If you cannot change the boot mode, check for Secure Boot settings and disable it. Microsoft Windows options need to be disabled too.
 
do you use external usb CD reader ?
Is you HDD with previous existing OS ? if so , do you expect to keep both or wipe and use debian only?

In bios you may found some settings about boot order and see if usb boot device is enabled

Unfortunately in this BIOS (really with few options ...) it is not possible to disable the UEFI mode: I have tried various "combinations" in the BIOS but the installation does not start, neither via CD, nor via USB pen drive. The strange thing is that I downloaded Debian9.9 x64 and with it the installation starts .... With Debian 3cx v16 I only get the UEFI BIOS shell ...
The hardware is all new (Ram and HDD SSD).

is there allready an OS on your hard drive?
if so try to delete partition as computer has no boot on HDD and try alternatives on others devices.

Also, if it simply doesn't work with 3CX ISO, run Debian 9.9 and install 3CX manually. It will work the same.

Non, mon disque dur est neuf. Le problème est que l'installation ne démarre pas, seul le shell UEFI BIOS me est présenté. Comme si le CD 3cx v16 ne démarre pas: le même CD essayé sur un ancien PC sans UEFI fonctionne ... Si j’utilise un CD avec Debian9.9 ou Win8.1 (à des fins de test ...), l’installation partie doucement.
Je ne sais pas, avec Intel NUC6CAYH avec Celeron J3455, je n’avais aucun problème, tout a commencé la première fois ...

No, my hard drive is new. The problem is that the installation does not start, only the UEFI BIOS shell is presented to me. As if it didn't see the boot of the 3cx v16 CD: the same CD tried in an older PC without UEFI works ... If I use a CD with Debian9.9 or Win8.1 (for testing ...), the installation part quietly.
I don't know, with the Intel NUC6CAYH with Celeron J3455, I had no problem, it all started the first time ...
 
Might be simply this BIOS that is a PITA with no-UEFI OS.
 
Like I said, install Debian 9.9 x64, then install 3CX manually. Don't waste time trying to boot the ISO.

I know, but I don't know Linux and its shells very well ...
But if I install 3cx v16 by mounting the disk drive in another working PC and then put it in this MiniPC?

Alternatively.... We have fully tested, vetted, and used this device on numerous installs of both 3CX, and the 3CX SBC with glowing success, and no real difficulty during install, they also work with pfsense as well for use as a firewall, one device that can do it all. Additional Note, if your looking for appliances other than these to run things like 3CX, the SBC, or pfSense, DO NOT get anything with a Celeron J1800 or J1900 CPU, these are good for NAS and super basic function, and not much else, they are incredibly slow, lack many of the instruction sets that make modern cpus work well. They make the Atom quad cores feel like I5 or I7 by comparison, we tried those ones out in testing as well, and it was very painful to watch and work with.
 
We have never used J1900 for 3cx, but we have always used Intel NUC J3455, even with small Call Centers with 16 licenses and without any problems. It is I who wanted a slightly more performing MiniPC with a more modern processor like J5005, but Intel NUC J5005 was not available. The BIOS of the Gigabyte BRIX J5005 is really minimal, it allows me very few customizations and it doesn't allow to remove UEFI to put Legacy. I also tried to install 3cx v16 on a MiniPC J3455 (without any problem!) And then move the SSD on the BRIX J5005, but it doesn't boot (I attach image)!
However the Atom E3845 is a processor from 2013, even if the problems are not so much the processors but as the new BIOS are written: written for the use of incompetents!

Here is the BIOS of the Atom Protectli's they just released an updated one for them within the last month, I recorded this just for this thread.
 
Check to see if there is an option called CSM (Compatibility Support Module).

If this is disabled then you only have UEFI active.
If this is enabled you have both UEFI and Legacy BIOS emulation

Also you have BIOS revision F5, the manufacturers site has F6 available since March according to support page. If you get it to boot the ISO then you can use our automated installer otherwise you have to find a way to get Debian 9 on the device, and then install manually

Thanks to everyone for the help, I solved the problem by following step by step what was recommended by Gigabyte support, even if I had already tried to boot with the USB key but it didn't start ...
We see that today is a good day ...

Steps:
  1. Follow the instruction to prepare a bootable USB drive. https://www.3cx.com/docs/installing-debian-pbx-mini-pc/
  2. Default BIOS settings, and select Dibian9(3cx Phone System platform) bootable USB drive to option
