Mitel 5212 template

Hi, I am looking to put a proof on concept in place of 3cx using our existing Mitel 5212 phones. I have searched and see that there are two post about this phone model working so I was wondering if anyone had a template that they wouldn't mind sharing that I could load in.

You can try to ask Mitel directly, most templates are provided by the manufacturers themselves.

I think I found one here edocs.mitel.com/UG/EN/DK115611_16.xls and here edocs.mitel.com/UG/EN/DK115611_17.xls via Google but can't seem to find a link from Mitel's site but I hope this will get me started.

Good luck! Honestly, since this Mitel series is pretty standard, I would simply replace them with Yealink or Snom phones. They would work much better with 3CX since they are supported.

Do you mean physically repalce them or use one of those templates? A complete replacement of our Mitel with Yealink is about the same price as just upgrading our Mitel system but if I can demo 3cx working with Mitel then it might help get 3cx across the line.

Yes I mean physically replacing the phones. Mitel is not officially supported by 3CX so even if you manage to make basic calls working, getting all the features will be hard.

What I would do is simply configure the best you can, and do so manually. As an argument to change the phones you can say A LOT less configuration time. If pricing is an issue, you might wanna look into Grandstream phones or other supported brands like Fanvil and Htek but your mileage may vary.

If yo do a Google search for "Mitel 5212 3CX", you'll only find a few posts on this forum, on the sets. I have a couple stored away, that I picked up cheap, and manually configured, a few years back. (They have a GU which is nice). As I recall, I got most, if not all, of the basic features, to work. If you have a lot of sets to configure, or expect that they will have to be re-configured often, then you are better off finding something that is currently supported. If you do some searches, supported used sets can be an economical option. If you have only a handful of sets, then you might take a shot at doing manual configurations until you can convince "people" to spring for new sets. I don't think there was ever enough interest to bother producing a template.

Thanks, will look into these, the Grandstream GXP1610 seems to be about $20 cheaper than the Yealink T19 E2 so that is already looking promising so I will take a look at the Fanvil and Htek and see what they have on the lowend (most phones will be hung in a classroom and used for internal calls only so they don't need any features other than maybe a phone book). Are there any key features or technologies that I should keep an eye out when looking at the low end of town?

We have about 200 extensions with the vast majority of the handsets being the Mitel 5212. I agree that it would be best to just replace with a supported phone rather than pay basically the same cost as getting new phones and 3cx licensing to just move to a new version of Mitel simply so we can keep our existing handsets and be with the devil we know.

Just make sure you check the official docs for the phones you look at since some have limitations. Other than that, they are all supposed to work flawlessly.
