Solved Move from 3CX Hosted to Self-Hosted

Hello. We are wanting to move a from a 3CX hosted instance to our own hosted server to be able to access the call-flow app. How easy of a task is this? Will all users need to re-configure their apps or can this be done seamlessly?

You can simply take a full backup of the system, download it and then spin up a new instance wherever you want using the backup during setup.

Thank you, sounds easy enough. My main concern is I want to it to seem seamless to the end users. Will all our staff need to re-configure their apps or will it happen seamlessly in the background?

Nope, after the DNS propagation of the new IP, the same FQDN will point to your new server. The apps and phones and SBCs should reconfigure themselves without any issues.

This can take up to 6 hours for Standard and Pro. 5 minutes for Enterprise licenses.

The 3CX hosted FQDN is a **.my3cx.ca address. Does the 3CX team just update the IP that's pointing to or how would the self-hosted instance use the same FQDN?

The 3CX team doesn't do anything. When you have an active 3CX instance it updates the DNS, regardless if local or hosted. The main thing is to make sure the hosted is turned off first.

It will update the IP automatically during the new instance setup. That's why you need to delete the current instance after the backup is on your PC but before setting up the new one,

@JG.DAL also keep in mind to not alter the ports on the new installation.
For example on the hosted PBX https port is 443 so use the same on the machine that you will deploy at your side. Because if you use port 5001 for example, you will need to send out new welcome emails to the users and also re-provision any deskphones you might have.
Use the same ports and you are good to go !!
