Hello,
A customer has an on-prem pbx. we are going to move it into hosted and put an SBC onsite for the 25 handsets.
Will the handsets need to be reprovisioned through the SBC?

Thanks

No, as long as you're using a good DNS server (Cloudflare, Google) on your SBC, the FQDN should update quick enough for it to reconnect to the new IP of the PBX.

To make it as painless as possible I would set up the SBC first with the on-premise PBX. Go to each extension and change them to use the SBC, hit reprovision.

Out of personal interest, because we can't find it and I probably missed it at some point:
Where exactly do you change the configuration in a 3CX v20 for a user or device to switch the IP phone or DECT base provisioning from IP or FQDN to an SBC? In v18, this was still possible.

We've also encountered this problem multiple times. In the end, we logged into the IP device, changed and saved the provisioning string, simultaneously deleted the IP device in 3CX, reconnected the IP device via SBC to the 3CX user, had the device restart, and then it was connected via SBC after the restart. But this had to be done manually for each device individually.

good question..

Doesnt look possible.. Though I recently moved phones from a local install to the cloud and I dont remember how I did it.. but that was last year.

Anyway..

depending on how many phones there are you could copy and paste the ID/password and replace them after you've set up the phone to use the SBC otherwise it's a factory reset.

When the PBX configuration has been restored into the cloud, set up the SBC.

Then go and copy the MAC address of the phone from the IP Phone.
Delete the phone, re create it with the same MAC address to connect through your SBC. This will send an RPS request to the vendors RPS server.
Reset the phone. It will reboot and pick up its new settings.
