Hi,

We currently manage a 3CX PBX with a hosting provider but are currenly in the process of moving it to another hosing provider.
They host and are the 3CX partners. So if I was to backup with no licence/FQDN from source and restore to destination what other things would I need to look out for? There will be different SIP trunks in play so will have forward put in place once destination system ready. Just looking to see if it possible to save time creating all users and call flows from scratch.

Hi,
In order to move from one hosting provider to another.
If you want to change FQDN/license, take a full backup of your pbx without License Key Information, FQDN & Conference.
Otherwise, take a full backup with License Key Information, FQDN & Conference.

If you want to save time deploying 3cx you can use "Deploying 3CX and Provisioning Settings via setupconfig.xml"
https://www.3cx.com/docs/configure-pbx-automatically/

Hi,

New system has different FQDN and licence already applied. I took a backup without them selected, so all good to restore from that backup into the system?

In this case, you will have Fqdn/license information of the new system with extension/trunk/rule/etc... of the backup system.

Awesome!!! Saved me ages of time. Thank you

I too am re-deploying 3CX. I am moving from the previous method on OVH of spinning up a VPS in Debian and then using SSH to install 3cx via terminal. I read somewhere that this method is no longer supported (also confirmed by attempting) and I am now following this recent documentation to re-deploy (step 3, option 2). When I get to the step of browsing to the backup file, upon hitting next it fails/errors - "Wrong License Key". I understand that my new instance has a new licnese and this does not match my backup. Despite the bold print that states to include the FQDN and License in the backup, I tried a backup without those items (unchecked when performing backup). It still fails to accept the backup. Please advise the best way to overcome this problem.

Hi hiltonsls,

When you do a backup without FQDN/information license. Try to finish the setup first, then insert your backup from the management console please.

The setup wizard in the portal (Manage Systems=>click on system=>Install) asks for the backup before the 3cx install. I have tried to bypass by not givng a backup, but the next input is for creating an FQDN. When entering the existing FQDN, it states "already in use". I cant find a way to spin up the PBX with out it having a different FQDN and license and it won't accept the backup with or without the FQDN and license.

Did you disconnect your actual FQDN from your actual license ( https://portal.3cx.com/login )
Can i have your license (five first digit) in mp please ?

No. I did not disconnect the FQDN from the license. I have two systems with the same problem. I am using our in house PBX to work out the migration issues so that I can migrate a critical customer system without much down time. Both systems were not in my portal originally. I am trying to get them there through this install process. I am happy to provide the first five of the license. I assume by "mp", you mean private message. I don't see that option anywhere here. My apologies...I'm a noob in the forum. Let me know the best way to send you the license.

The best way to go is to migrate to 3CX Hosted. If you have support questions about self hosted please use our support portal.
