I am running 15.5 and am using Fanvil X4G and X3G phones and I have 1 Snom PA1 tied into my existing PA system.
This is a brand new installation at our company. I had tested the SNOM and had a few phones in place just using a SIP paging group. It all appeared to be working properly until I got all of my phones in place. SIP paging is not an option due to propagation delays between the handsets - paging kind of sounds like you're in a baseball stadium.
After reading recommendations on the forum, I set up a multicast group and now all of the phones are in sync, but the SNOM is no longer working. I am pretty sure it's just a config issue, but I am not sure where to look.

If somebody could walk me through the config options on the Snom and/or the multicast setup as a whole, I would appreciate the help.

Thanks.

Login to the SNOM
Goto Setup ->Advanced
Goto the SIP/RTP Tab
Multicast is at the bottom.
Format: 224.0.0.1:50002 (use actual settings from your 3cx Paging Group Extension.)
Ensure the radio box is selected to "ON"

I think the Snom only supports G.711 U-law for Multicast but I may be incorrect. So, ensure this is set on the Paging Group setup.

Craig,
Thanks for your reply. I went into the Snom, Setup - Advanced. Set multicast on and added the address. Hit Apply, then Save. I reboot the snom and the multicast settings get wiped out. What am I missing?

Is it assigned to an extension and getting a template applied? My Snom is not assigned to any extension as it is not used for calls or ringing or anything.

Yes, it is assigned to an extension and it is using the standard 3CX template. .

so thats the reason - if it still needs an extension program it manually.

Not sure I follow. The Snom shouldn't have an extension?

if it's only doing multicast - It doesn't need it.
if you need to keep an extension - program it manually since they do not have multicast in the template.

I removed the extension from the SNOM and I can now page over it. I cannot, however get into the config page. I suppose I can factory reset and reconfigure it, now that I know how to get it working.

Glad to see you got it working. One thing to add is that multicast paging is included in the template and you can set it up under extension settings. You need to look for option "Enable Multicast Paging Ring Group provisioning" and select the multicast group you created.

I don't have it quite right yet. Random extensions have stopped working over multicast. I didn't know about the "Enable ring group provisioning" option. Question - Once I enable this option on the extension, do I have to reprovision the phone to get it to take?

usually the phone needs to be rebooted for Multicast to take effect.
