I am trying to access via WinSCP to browse for similar...

...but the working credentials for the local 3CX web-interface won't allow me in via WinSCP ?

Correct. 3CX credentials have nothing to do with the OS credentials, same as Windows. You'll want to use the root credentials you set during installation or another OS level account.

aaargh...that was far too easy

firmware uploaded to local 3CX server and provisioning pushed out to handsets AOK

now to try and solve the digit-map(?) so that i don't have to hit the "SEND/CALL" button after entering in a number to call from each PolyCom handset
