New desktop app media keys

I've found that the new desktop app seems to intercept media keys such as play/pause meant for other apps like Spotify. It then just plays the ring tone until you press the key again.
Is this something other people have found?
Is this something that can be addressed? As I see quite a few customers flagging this to me in the future.

This is happening to me as well, and can be rather frustrating. Would love a fix or at least some sort of workaround.
