Yes there will be the final version soon yes. But this update fixes push certs and preps the target system for v20.

final version would be the only safe version to install, as if you need to restore v18, you can't restore a beta backup to a non-beta install. we're gonna have to hold off on this until we see it go final. Had to restore a few systems as they wouldn't cooperate on the upgrade to 20

The persona of someone installing a beta matches the profile of a user which has the intent to remain for a longer period of time on v18.
This particular cohort of users would stay longer on v18 - as long as possible and would not install a beta of v18 and then immediately start the upgrade to V20. So this is the point of the beta and the upcoming final version for v18.

i think you missed my point. you cannot restore a beta backup to a non-beta fresh install of V18. we've run into this before testing stuff. so you're best to not install the beta and just go right to 20.

Since that is self hosted, it's the same as on prem which is end of 2024.

Yes we deny this to protect. A backup taken from a beta is essentially a "beta backup".
A responsible admin would not want to get a beta backup and move it on a production system before upgrading this backup to a "production backup". This means that the BETA lifecycle would have been satisfied.

The path should be like this:

Do we want to participate in the beta program of a software? Yes / No

Yes - Then we are interested in each phase - so we apply Beta and live through the beta lifecycle. Wait until the beta ends, and go step by step with the developer. This is the BETA route.

No - We do other work and remember the developer only when we see the keywords RELEASE,

Like an online certification - You cannot jump from one path to the other if the academy does not let you.

In such a case, first manually update the system to the latest beta version (e.g. 18.0.9.23 or 18.0.9.31) in the fresh v18:
apt update && apt install 3cxpbx=18.0.9.31

If you are already participating in a beta program, you should know which versions 3CX offers for installation
apt list -a 3cxpbx
and how to install them (see above).

LOL, clearly I did. I installed a test environment a while back when still in Alpha and wasn't aware it's now in Beta.
