I just setup a hosted by 3cx server. I have setup two extension and connected two yealink phone to it. Both phones are showing online and are green. Two extension is as follow:
ext: 100 and 101. i called rom 100 to 101 i can hear it ring. I pick it up but when I talk i cannot hear each other . No one can talk into it. I am right next to each other.

Can someone tell me how to troubleshoot this? I didn't put in a sip provider yet. I don't think that is needed to talk extension to extension.

Please advise..

Sounds like you provisioned in STUN.

Enable "PBX Delivers Audio" under each extensions -> Options. It should fix it.

Better yet, get familiar with the SBC.

cannot provision with a 3cx SBC on the remote site. so I will have to stay with stun provision.
I was reading some article will there be issues if 3 phone in the remote location using it at once?

Well, did you use separate SIP and RTP ports for each phones? If not, it won't work correctly.

You have a specific configuration you need to follow for 3CX in general with remote phones using STUN:

https://www.3cx.com/docs/manual/configuring-ip-phones/#h.ul2fzupi6t22/

Be sure to read the notes at the bottom. Do note that 3CX does not support STUN phones when hosted by 3CX:

You need to use a SBC. I'm not sure why you say you can't deploy a SBC at the remote site. You want it to work and be supported right? I'd suggest finding a way.
the reason why we don't want to deploy a SBC on the remote site is because that is one less equipment for us to manage. So you saying hosted by 3cx do not support the STUN remote phone? if that is the case, if i hosted in google cloud with stun will that work better?

What i'm trying to accomplish hosting this on the cloud is provision it for the client so they just plug the phone into their network and pick up a dhcp and the phone will able to work without configuring their firewall or messing around port forwarding.

How is other big company do this? example: ringcentral?

Attached is the setup. something like this will do?

This is not going to work with stun setup - in cloud or 3cx hosted.

As above 3cx hosted solution stun is not supported by 3cx , as this is a managed solution and too many variables and you will not get support

Each stun phone requires
1. different sip , block of rtp ports
2. Fixed up address (can be DHCP reservation)
3. Firewall port forwarding to so that the correct ports are forwarded to the correct phone.

If you want plug and play, you need to install a sbc server

Well, I was able to setup STUN with DHCP plug and play. I changed differenet sip and block of rtp on each phone. I didn't do any firewall porting forwarding and I was able to make calls and receive on two of the phone at the same time.

So it seem like its working smoothly. Any other testing I should do? Voice quality is good.

Please advise on what other testing I should do to fully tested this .

thank you.

Without port forwarding, you will have issues. Some firewalls handle it correctly, but most don't. Also, make sure to disable SIP ALG.

To run some tests: plug in more than 4-5 devices, do some conferences between them, do blind and attended transfers, etc. See if anything breaks.

Keep in mind that STUN is painful to manage with more than 2-3 phones.

I see what you are saying.. This is for a small office. that only have 3 phones. So I would assume this should work. We will not be using conference call. I will test all the basic feature, blind transfer, attended transfer, put call on hold and put them on park. etc..

Thank you so much!!

Hi @Song

For Hosted by 3CX there are certain limitations, just keep them in mind before you proceed.
https://www.3cx.com/docs/switch-hosted-pbx/#h.frv8rx9mm9bs

Make sure you read all the limitations to be certain there isn't anything else you need that would not be available.

Alternatively, you can deploy to your own Google cloud and customize accordingly
