Hello,

I currently see in almost every update since V15.5 (so to V16.1,2 and now the 3) an updated template of one of our different providers. Telekom, Swisscom and so on. Of course we have, like so many others, problems with different providers, but all incoming and outgoing rules depend on one SIP trunk. Is there a way to apply a new template to an existing SIP trunk without having to re-create everything?
That would be really nice.

If you are already using the template, the system will use the new template when you have downloaded it

You mean, when I use a template from V15.5, where I added the SIP-Trunk, the updated templates will be used for this SIP-Trunk automatically without changing? Or where do I have to download the updated template??

Installing V16 may have updated sip templates, if you are already using the 3cx sip template it will automatically use the new template - You do not have to do anything.

If you are using the generic template, and 3CX releases a template for that sip provider - then you have to setup the sip again using the 3CX template.

Any templates released outside of major updates, will appear under 'Updates'

when updated templates are availables they come from 3cx update channel, so if you apply an updated SIP trunk template (you use) of course it will be in use automaticly

I rarely see an updated template in the update channel. Most of them are included in the system updates.
And also these templates automatically downloaded in the system updates are then always applied to existing SIP trunks without further ado?
I just want to make sure we don't misunderstand each other.

Do you have automatic updates enabled ?

If you do not, and you have not done any updates you should see

When downloading trunk template updates, they will affect trunks you create after the update.

Your existing trunk settings are not affected for obvious reasons.

That's what I knew, I don't know what Saqqara and aws2p are talking about.

Can you, JohnS_3CX, please give me an answer, if there is any way to get a new SIP Trunk template on an existing trunk?
It would be nice if it is not done automatically, but you could manually apply the new template to an old trunk if you have problems with telephony.

If it applies only on new trunk created after update, there's no other option to delete and recreate trunk, this time new template will apply.

You don't need to delete the trunk. You can simply go through the process of creating a second, bogus trunk for that same provider and then look at the settings to update your existing trunk.

No, if the trunk is already created the updated template will not be applied. You need to either perform the changes manually or re-create the trunk.
We do not want trunks to be automatically updated as we understand that many users have adjusted settings that fit their requirements. It could be as simple as the trunk name or the codec order. We do not want to switch those changes back to default every time there is an update.
