Solved New to Linux, system time/DST question

Will be moving from Windows to Linux for v18. New to Linux, will be utilizing assistance of course learning the OS, but question, as I'm used to Windows time settings affecting PBX, what, if anything, needs to be done on a Linux server regarding setting time, time zone, DST, auto updating Linux system time (Like Windows checks windows time server).

Obviously I will set the time zone in the management console, just unclear what 3CX depends on from the Linux OS like it does Windows time.

I know it's probably an elementary question, but it's my first time with Linux.

During the 3CX ISO setup, the Debian installer will ask you for your timezone.

It will be kept updated automatically by both the system and the PBX. Similar to how Windows work: set it once and forget.

Of course, don't forget to set your timezone in Settings > Time/Holidays/Hours.

Hi @bbaker73,

Everything mentioned by @ConceptsWeb is correct. During the 3CX installation it will also ask you about the timezone you're wanting to use as well.

Do bear in mind that if you install the PBX on Hyper-V (specifically), you may need to look out for time drifting.

Other than that, you should be good to go!
