Greetings eveyrone !

Running

VERSIONVersion16.0.1.273

Just upgraded to windows 10 Pro 1903 ( I know I know LOL )
Been running 3CX for over a year now with not even a small issue !

Came in this am and found a msg : nginx is stopped .
Rebooted first and it did not restart
went into task manager / services and restarted nginx
Seems to be working

Question :
why did it stop
why didn't the service restart on a reboot ?

Has any one heard of this issue ? I did see some older postings but no description of what the root cause is

Thx

Regards

Rich

Hi Rich,

Please check the Windows Event log as a start, to see if anything appears there.

Good Morning John and thx for the reply ! Just checked win 10 pro 1903 updated and the logs are gone . I'll have to dig further into it .. I checked the 3CX logs and almost all NGINX logs are empty except for nginx_svr_wrapper but it only states on 6/4 it stopped and a few moments later it restarted . Wondering why the other nginx logs are empty ..

Is it still causing you issues? Sometimes a service might fail to start if there are any delays on the machine (for any reason) or but unless the problem is reproducible then it will not be easy to learn about that one event, especially if there is no info in nginx_svc.wrapper log. The other logs are also empty on mine, they are populated if needed.

Hi John

Thx for the reply . Seems to be a one off type of issue as it has been stable for a while since I wrote this . It was just very odd that out of the blue it just disabled nginx . Thx for the help on the logs as well too !! If anything changes I'll repost info !

Glad to be of some help, and I would also recommend as general advice checking the reboot schedule of the machine. Windows updates may cause unexpected downtime, or after an update reboot things might be a bit sluggish to start and can cause the services to misbehave if they don't respond in due time, having to then stop running due to timeouts or lack of sufficient system resources at the time.

Thank You John !

Yea great point John as Win 10 pro has some random issues occurring but mostly has been stable . I do check the logs regularly and 3CX deleted/dumped the event logs also ! My 3CX pc does a few things rather nicely as well as run my company telephone system , also nothing heavy but a daily use pc for my business as well .

Thaks again !

Hi Rich,

Our recommendation is to always have a dedicated machine for 3CX, with no other software installed. This will ensure the best possible service level, and minimize unknown factors from affecting your calls unexpectedly.

If you have a small office, you should consider running the PBX on a small dedicated PC or a Raspberry Pi, even in the cloud if you want to go that way and freeing up your personal PC to not affect your calls. I think you will find our Debian-based ISO will run very solid for your purposes.

Hi John

Understood and Thanks !

My home office has 4 telephones so its not a huge issue .

I use it so sparingly that it is not an issue either . When we grow out I will be putting it on a different platform but for now it works great !

Thx

regards
