Opus support in Yealink phones?

I've been testing opus today on a T48S with a custom template.

First things first, opus rocks! And 3CX seems to have a decent implementation as well because CPU usage on this 2.4Ghz CPU in lightsail barely registers at about 3% with an opus call in flight. The sound quality at 16Khz ie ~45Kbps is outstanding.

But when is this going to be put into stock templates?

I need a <64kbps per call codec and quite frankly, g.729 is garbage. iLBC seems to have been abandon and opus appears to be ready right now, so lets have it!

It's already in T58 templates I believe so I imagine we'll see it pretty soon. After the latest firmware fiasco I can't fault 3CX for being a little cautious. They also need to make sure the increased CPU usage is well documented/tested since just about all installs are going to be transcoding unless the SIP trunk provider offers OPUS.

I guess I missed the firmware fiasco, what is that?

I'm testing T48S on opus with a custom template and I'm seeing 1-2% CPU increase (1x ~6th get Xeon core at 2.4Ghz in aws lightsail) so it's not terribly bad for a smaller system. No idea where that goes with a few dozen calls in flight though.

Yealink the .20 or .30 firmware had some bug in it that capped the firmware upload size to like 2mb so effectively we wouldn't be able to upgrade firmware remotely anymore. With the .55 release if you look in the firmware folder you'll see a small 'patch' firmware to fix that problem and then a the full .55 firmware with the full fix.
