Hello,

For some reason the outbound caller IDs are not working anymore.

The only changes I can remember are:
entering a phone number in the Default caller ID field of the trunk.
creating some groups for the pickups
add these groups to the default outbound rule

How should I troubleshoot this?

The activity log doesn't seem to show the outbound id? or is this log not capturing this?

The only changes I can remember are:
entering a phone number in the Default caller ID field of the trunk.

That might have something to do with it.

Do you mean that the outbound caller ID, set against each extension, is no longer working? Does the number set against the trunk show instead? Do you have the outbound trunk settings to take the number from the extension?

Yes, my guess is that it happend after entering the main number in that caller ID field.

No matter which phone I use to dial out it always show the same number.

I'm not sure if it changes when I change that value.

I don't know about that last question you're asking. If you mean those 2 "take outbind id from manager settings" then those are still set like before.

If I change the "Configure Outbound Caller ID" number it still shows the number that you see in "main trunk number"

Edit: I can change that main trunk number but it still shows up as the other number.

ok, I think I figured out what goes wrong...

we gave 4 or 5 10-block number ranges.

only 2 of them have been ported to SIP so far and it seems that the provider only allows CIDs from those 20 only.

it works fine on the phones I did at the start but not the newer ones which are currently forwarded from the original Alcatel pbx to the 3CX one on a different number.

so it will only work when all those blocks have been added to that sip router/gateway thing.

Some providers are like that. To prevent spoofing. they will only allow caller ID for numbers that you have, on record, as actually being yours, which means ...ones you have bought from, or ported to them.

Glad to see the issue has been resolved. For future reference and assuming the trunk is set up correctly to show the Outbound caller ID taken from extension settings then the outbound caller ID is selected with the following order:
  1. Outbound caller ID set under extension settings
  2. Caller ID set in trunk settings
  3. Main trunk number.
