Hello,

I am currently reading through the guide on CID re-formatting and its heavy on inbound formatting but doesnt go into great detail for outbound CID re-formatting.

What I am trying to achieve is re-formatting the outbound caller ID so it appears as a local number.

Is this possible and does anyone have any experience in this area?

Hello @Andy Veal

In addition to the guide that explains how the reformatting is done (its the same principle for both directions) what you need to know is that only the outbound parameters that contain the value "OriginatorCallerID " are reformatted.
Give an example of a number of how it is originally and how you want it appearing so we can provide better assistance

Thanks, the outbound caller ID we have against the trunk is 028459xxxx and I want to reformat to 6175609xxxx.
But only when calling that location so its as if its a local number.

Unfortunately when reformatting a caller ID you cannot apply it only for specific destinations unless you have multiple trunks and you call specific numbers using a different trunk.
Outbound caller ID reformatting detects the outbound caller ID used and re-formats it but does not relate it with the destination.

Thanks, so If i ask my provider for another trunk ID and move across some of our numbers I can set up multiple trunks under the same PBX and then can configure the rules under that trunk?

Yes that is possible however make sure that each trunk has unique DIDs and if possible the trunks should have different Auth ids.
Having identical trunks under the PBX could cause source identification issues depending on the provider and how the Inbound calls are handled. Source identification issues can cause calls being dropped or routed to the wrong destination
