Outbound routes, can't work with soft phone?

Hi everyone,

I got my outbound routes working for Yealink SIP-T28P.

From the IP Phone, I could call these numbers:-

- any extensions (for sure)
- 032XXXXXX (local number)
- 01XXXXXXXX (mobile number)

It works!

But on the soft phone side, I can't make it work.

I tried to call this:-

- 032XXXXXX (local number)
- 01XXXXXXXX (mobile number)
- [email protected] (local number and suffix the elastix server IP)
- 01XXXXXXXX (mobile number and suffix the elastix server IP)

None works.

Got this error "Your call can't be completed as dialed. Please check the number and dial again" and can hear the tootuutoo, something like that.

My dial patterns as follows:-

prepend | prefix | match pattern | caller id

nothing | nothing | 01XXXXXXXX | nothing
nothing | nothing | NXXXXXXX | nothing

Any tips from the forum? Thanks.

Ericmachine,

Can only take guesses here...could be many things...

Dialplan in the Softphone....(remove the dialplan altogether)

1) make a call with your T28 to the number
2) Make a call with your Softphone to the same number

Check the /var/log/asterisk/full

Check to see what is in the log for those calls

Post the logs here (separated) so that we can see what is happening

by the way, bria3 original works fine but not x-lite, probably free has limitations

xlite should work....main thing is that Xlite has no g729 codec. Your T28 phone has the G729 codec. Bria has the g729 codec.....

So if you have setup to use G729, this may explain it....

Noted and thanks, but I can't seem to find a way to add the G729 codec to X-Lite? Can that really be done?

With Xlite ....no...

You need to purchase their commercial products for G729 (e.g. Bria etc). G729 is a licenced product and they pay a licence fee for its implementation in a product.

Products that you have bought such as Yealink T28, have it included.

This is why all free softphones do not come with G729.

In a normal LAN environment, there is no requirement for G729, use GSM or Ulaw/Alaw
