In Outbound rules, how many digits is in the number:

+15062371800 (Made up number)

Is the + considered a digit and this is defined in the rule as a 12 digit number, or just 11 digits with the + not counting?

Also, how do I classify a long distance rule with 1XXX dialing to cover North America? Are wildcards supported? If so, which ones?

Thanks.

+ in dial string. use the E164 processing first and strip +1. So +1 gets converted to a 10 digit call.

In the E164 processing in settings:

Then use the rules below:
North America
7 digit rule - add 1<local area code>
10 digit rule - add 1
11 digit rule and starts with a 1 - do nothing
In all of these, perhaps you need to add a + depending on the provider - Flowroute I do not add it - Twilio I do.

Thanks. A lot of folks have North American numbers stored with + signs and they were failing as we were stripping them off. Figured out the issue with the provider as they were expecting the +1xxxyyyzzzz format.

So yeah - strip it in the North America rules- then add it back. Seems to work out ok.
Especially if you have a backup provider as I do - the Primary doesn't want the + but the backup does.

One last thing on something you said above(?) If a digit(s) is stripped the rule is defined by the stripped length?

So a rule to handle +15062371800 with the +1 stripped would be set to a 10 digit rule???

yep

running v14 The caller ID on outbound calls to some carriers show 929-123-4573 it strips the +1. To the receiver, it looks like the calls are from Pakistan and some 800 numbers are blocking us from calling them because of this.

We are using flowroute I have an outbound rule for 11 we dial 1 when calling out any ideas
