Hello all,
I had an issue updating our Azure based 3CX to V18 and needed to restore from backup. All went well but I noticed my backup files are very large (1.6GB) which means it took a while to restore. When I extracted the zip and looked in the folder I saw that most of the size is old firmware files for old phones we no longer have.
I use custom templates on some of my handsets and so I don't want to backup with the "Custom Templates, Logos, Firmwares and Faxes" checkbox unticked.
Can someone please tell me where I can delete these files from? I have SSH access and googling seems to suggest that the firmware files are stored in /var/lib/3cxpbx/Instance1/Data/Http/Interface/provisioning/ but I just want to be sure of what I can and can't delete.
Thanks in advance.

Hi @mperrin

If those two folders were completely empty, then no firmware would be included in the backup:

/var/lib/3cxpbx/Instance1/Data/Http/Interface/provisioning/xxxx/firmware
/var/lib/3cxpbx/Instance1/Data/Http/Interface/provisioning/xxxx/firmware_new

SSH access can be a blessing and a curse so only do it at your own risk. If you modify the permissions or ownership of those folders, your system will no longer be able to download firmware, and might cause other unforeseen issues that you'll discover at a later stage.

Thanks for this... just need a way to get rid of old firmwares... It would be good if we could backup everything except firmware - take it out of the tickbox in backup module and give it it's own tickbox.

If you want to keep the current firmware (which you should keep anyway if you include it in the backup) and only get rid of old firmwares like you said, then we already provide a solution:

This will then take you here:

The Cleanup option will only appear if you have old firmware.

It will not appear if you have the current firmware. Those are not deletable because you have phones assigned to extensions that reference the current firmware files.

Hope this helps!

Legend !!!! I never knew this feature was there .. thank you
