Hi all,

I have a client who is experiencing a large amount of callers calling back, claiming that their number called them, even though they didn't. I assume this some sort of call spoofing? Is there anything we can do to further secure the line in 3CX?

It is nothing to do with 3CX. Just about anyone, can choose to send (spoof) any number, it just unfortunate that they choose your clients number.

Huh? Spoofing would imply they are not using your system to call but rather are just presenting your number when they call. If they are using your system to make calls then it's hacking. So is your number being spoofed or is was your system hacked?

In the US & CA there is actually a system been "developed" to prevent others to use your caller ID.

However, to all-out best knowledge and followups with our partners, this only existing on paper but not in practice.

While there are attempts to block invalid number (format) originations, by providers, if the number appears to be real (valid area code and central office code), then spoofed numbers are probably going to continue to slip through.

It's strange, we've just had clients say that our organization called them 20 times and left a silent voice mail.. can't say we've been hacked, but it just sounds like spoofing. I'm still trying to dig for more details and verify that we didn't show any outgoing calls from that line like that.
