Suppose you are manually dialing numbers in the Web or Windows client and you want to play an audio recording once their voicemail answers. Is it possible to do this (with the push of a button, essentially).

If you are doing this with any sort of volume or professionalism you'd want to use an auto-dialer to do that. @VoIPTools has something I believe. But if you are trying to go lowtech/low budget you just need some sort of audio program that will pipe an audio source (like a mp3 or wav file) to the windows mic/input device.

The feature you are talking about is commonly referred to as "Voicemail Drop".. This is not a built-in feature in 3CX, but I encourage you to take a look at our 3CX Auto Voicemail tool which does what you are looking for. Essentially your agents can pre-record standard voicemails with titles like "Sorry I missed you", or "Contact us", or "Your account is past due". Having the ability to select from a list of pre-recorded voicemails that, when selected, immediately drops the agent from the call and has 3CX save the voicemail in the background can significantly increase the productivity of your agents, and ensure a carefully crafted voicemail is left with your customers every time.

The problem with an auto dialer is that it can't (as far as I know) differentiate between a person and a voicemail, since they are both 200 response codes.

This sounds like what I need. How does the tool differentiate between a "person" and a voicemail inbox?

So when you said 'push of a button' I assumed you meant it was a live person initiating the calls, and then you just wanted them to inject the recording. That would be the only way to differentiate between the live person and voicemail answering.

Well, you have hit upon one of the very few things 3CX cannot do (today). We cannot access the audio stream to perform voicemail detection. So, when the agent places a call and hears "I'm not available right now, please leave a message after the beep" it is the agent that listens for the beep and then selects which voicemail to leave.

Sorry, to clarify, yes, I am talking about a live person making each call manually via Click-to-Call using either the 3CX Brower-based WebClient or the Windows Softphone.
