When a caller calls an extension and it is set to ring the main phone and then ring the cell phone, etc while trying to find the person.

We would like to play a message that basically says, please hold while we try to locate your party.

How would we set that up

I'm assuming that , at the moment, the caller hears ringback tone, which is the de facto "notification" that somewhere a phone is ringing, and no one has yet answered. You can't easily replace that as it will affect all users of the PBX. Normally ringback is enough that people don't hang up unless it takes more than about 30 seconds. If you are using the Ring My Mobile option, then both the desk phone and the mobile should be ringing at about the same time. If it takes more than 30 seconds to answer a call, then you have to ask why, because after that, unanswered calls usually go off to voicemail, either 3Cx voicemail, or that of the mobile user.

You may need to provide more information of how the extension options are set up.

Hello @lreiber

You could direct calls to a queue where the caller will wait until the call is answered and you are able to play a prompt. That means that the call will be answered by the Queue manager while the caller is waiting for an answer. You could also use the Call Flow Designer to create a custom call flow that will better match your implementation.

You need a PRO or ENT licence to run CFD.
