We've moved over to the windows client and no none of our reception team answer the calls on their own extension as the windows client logs back in to who ever used it last. surely this is poor security let alone function?

Hi @Baldog,

To confirm, are you speaking about the legacy Windows Client or the new Desktop App? If you don't know, send me a screenshot.

Why not create multiple different Windows Users? The Desktop app is installed in the %appdata% folder which is specific to each Windows User.

the desktop app for windows.

Sadly creating windows users accounts wont work as they all share the same windows log in which works with the rest of our systems.

We just need a way to log out of the 3cx app and for it to log out on shut down. I cant believe this isn't an option in the software just for security alone. We now have a situation where management are having their chats read because they cant log out of the app.

We'd go back to using the web log in however the wireless headsets we bought don't integrate into the web version as well as they do for the app.

Dude you talk security but use 1 login for more than 1 person...

The issue is not 3CX here...

The same people use all the same system so there's literally no point in using multiple windows accounts especially as the system they use uses encrypted passwords but thats another convo.

3cx is the only system we use where you are not able to log out off

You can logout. Just not automatically because it was not meant to be used this way.

Where is the log out button?

Hi @Baldog,

To be clear, you'd need to Log each receptionist into the Web Client when starting their shift, and tell them to click the provisioning link since you won't be using multiple Windows User Accounts. There is no way around this.

I think it'll require a small component of retraining, or maybe a note near the PC to tell them to log themselves in when starting their shift.

@VasilisV_3CX yeah that's the problem once they've jumped on the pc and are busy they just start using it. If there was at minimum a log out button the previous person would log out forcing the new user to log in. If someone has personal chats on their phone there is no way for these to be protected other than the previous person hoping the next person will log in correctly. The current situation is a nightmare and almost most times we don't have people using the right extension. Not all people are computer savvy sadly which makes things challenging and as such things should be designed with an ease of use functionality. We wont be the only people experiencing this. The rest of 3cx is awesome its just this small thing that's causing a problem.

The only way to "log out" is to provision a new extension on it (using the Provision button of the Webclient.)

This has come up before on the forum. You could consider just using the web client (which does have a log out function under Exit Client) or the legacy Windows app (which allows switching extensions after all are provisioned, though doesn't prompt for a password).

I second what @SteveITS says, if you are concerned about security, you would want to go with the WebClient to allow the various users to logout and instruct them NOT to save their credentials.

As mentioned earlier in this thread though and I couldn't agree more, the correct thing you should do in my opinion is create different Windows accounts.

same there's no real fix for it!

The fix is to use the correct security options with different windows accounts. I am litte shocked that someone is using single accounts for different people in a business. Thats in germany not possible (DSGVO).

We have explained how the Desktop App was designed and intended to be used.
Your use-case falls outside the intended way.

Many alternatives and suggestions have been given on how you could counter this.

What I can say though is that for the time being, it is not on the roadmap to allow multiple accounts on the 3CX Desktop App like the old app, so I would suggest you check the suggestions in this thread to find something that suits you if this is a big issue for you.
