I am setting up our Phone System and having some issues on configuring the prefix bypass. I dont want to have to dial 9 to get out everytime. Is there a outbound rule I can put in to not have to dial 9 to get out and have the rule do it for me. I am new to setting outbound rules so if anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it.

In most cases, the 9 prefix is to tell the PBX that "this is an outside call". It is usually not required by your provider, so the outbound rules would not have to add it, but that still could be done if it was really necessary. Having an access prefix also can simplify outbound rules depending on the dialling requirements of your area/provider.

Some phones do have an internal dialplan, that can add a prefix digit to numbers of a certain format, if you want.

You don't have to use a prefix, if you don't want to. You can create rules based on the number of digits you are dialling for local calls, and use long distance access codes, as a prefix for rules dealing with national, and international. here may also be some local "special" numbers that don't fit into any of the above, so individual rules would have to be created, specifically for those.

@leejor I tried setting the outbound rule to no prefix an it wouldnt let me dial out. I am using Chime.

The outbound rule(s) still have to match the numbers that 3CX is receiving. So...that could be a certain number of digits, or, numbers that begin with certain digits.

Don't forget that the rules are read from the top down, and will follow the first match found.

You might check the 3CX Activity Log to see if you can't dial out because of the rules not matching, or, because you are not sending the correct digits to your provider.

For an outbound rule to be matched the PBX must match at least one criteria set in your outbound rule. So since you are using Chime all your calls must be in the E164 format so all numbers will start with a "+". Try adding that as the number prefix in your outbound rule.

I figured out how to get it done. Thanks for your help.
