hi all

im following https://www.3cx.com/blog/releases/v20-upgrade-checklist-faq/ to prepare for the move to departments.

i've got 2 companies on the 3CX, got a tonne of DIDs for both companies, seperate offices, sites etc.

Step 2 says to move the queues etc to the correct dpt.

So, I thought I could just "send to group" and then configure the routing from the web client but apparently not as i'm only able to assign 1 routing to the department.

I seem to be unable to assign different DIDs to destinations under the one dpt - is this correct?

Am I going to have to create a new dpt for each destination pre v20 move?

I am in the same ship... How to manage office hours for users who have there own dids? I dont want to switch the status of the user, i just want to route different in and off office hours.

So I read step 3 like it was a prerequisite and its not. Between Step 2 and 3 theres the upgrade.

I was wondering why the stuff I did in v18 wasnt reflected it v20..

what I dont understand is, I had a DID go to a GROUP in v18 and in the restore in v20 it stuck it on the DID to the department. Who manages where that DID goes? I dont see any destination configurable on the department.

When I assign it to the correct queue it removes from the department DID.

Is the point in departments to use office hours/holidays? Am I supposed to use a department owner to configure the call routing because that's just adding an extra step to admin.. Im a little frustrated right now.. might go for my lunch.

Not on v20 yet, but I believe the DID on the department rings the department members, like a ring group. If you think of a department as an SMB customer, it makes more sense.

But I dont see the point in that.. Why not let the RG or Q do that?

V18 I can define the destination of the group, v20 I cannot (that i can see?)

I am not arguing with you. :) Does Free have ring groups?

Inbound rules should be visible on RC3? https://www.3cx.com/blog/releases/v20-release-candidate-3/
sorry, just venting out loud.

Thats for CID Inbound Rules.

*Edit - I do see the inbound rules report.

That link does say

If you’re running Version 20, Build 1609 you will see an update "New 20.0 Release Candidate 3” Click on it to install the update.

Im on this build but dont see an upgrade option.

I've gone back to the v18 set up and removed any destination to GROUPs. I feel like this update was when Windows when from 7 to 8 then to 10 quietly brushing away 8.

Im used to a linear flow, check inbound rules and go from there.

In v20 you need to set the destination of the did to the department and in the department to an ringgroup with the members of the department.

Cant do that. Its either assigned to the destination or the department.

You cant set the DID as destination to an department?

You need to set the call forwarding in the department to an ringgroup.

Youre looking at Call Handling.

I'm talking about the DID's that are assigned to the department

Doesnt go to the ring group specified in v18.

If i assign it to the RG in v20 it will remove it from the dpt.

I cant forward from the department. Assigning the DID to the RG removes it from the department.

Why you cant forward from the department? I dont understand.

Yes, the DID can only go to one endpoint. The department or the ringgroup. If you want to use the features of the department and use the ringgroup you need to assign the did to the department and use the call forwarding in the department to the ringgroup.

Send me a screenshot of the forwarding in department you're referring to
