I can't get the handset to make an intercom call to a desktop phone. I haven't set up a VOIP provider yet so I can't make a "real" test call yet. I've done everything that the docs on 3cx say to do. I've never set up a DECT phone before. It has downloaded the config file.

What do I need to check?

Sorry I wasn't clear enough. I dialed 100 on the DECT phone (106). While punching in the numbers it says line invalid at the top. When I punch dial it responds:
Call failed
via: IP phone
line forbidden

under status > line status it shows a small red circle with an x in it.

The Yealink base page says under the account tab > register it says that the register failed.

Also under extensions on the 3cx admin page, extension 106 has a red dot.

I've upgraded the ROMs. They both show the correct ones on the phone and base web page. I've selected SBC as the provisioning method (3cx is in 3cx's cloud). I've used the numerical address and a URL to the SBC. The SBC is running on a pi4. It works with my desktop phones just fine. It just won't register the line. I've even reentered the user name and password.

Sorry , from what you wrote ,I don't understand what mix (try) you do with SBC and DECT base.
If the Pi is working fine with deskphones then nothing needs to be done on SBC.
The only problem to register extensions (i guess what you call lines ?) is to provison the dect base properly and pair the handset with base.

Since this is done everything go easy and phones register
have same base used in same conditions
