Hello!

I've got a problem with my fleet of GXP2160s since I upgraded to v16. If I try to transfer a call by using the transfer button and then pressing the MPK that belongs to the destination extension, an attended transfer is performed. I've checked all of my phones, and they all have "Select transfer method used (Blind or Attended) when you press a DSS key " set to Blind. I've tried factory resetting and reprovisioning a few phones to no avail.

Can anyone help?

TIA!

You said you checked the phone?
did you check the actual phone or the extension provisioning?

I checked the extension provisioning.

The option in provisioning defines the behavior of the phone when u press a DSS key, not when you press the "Transfer" key. If you wish to perform a blind transfer, simply press the BLF button (DSS Key) of the extension you want and the call will be instantly transferred blind.

I tried just pressing the DSS key while on a call, and it just creates a new call on one of the other line keys without transferring the call.

On this model of phone, you have to answer the call on the other side to complete the blind transfer OR you can hang up and the blind transfer will still happen.

Requirements:
  • You must set the phone option in provisioning to "Blind Transfer"
  • You must select the type as "BLF" for your destination extension

Both of those requirements are set in my organization, but I still can't blind transfer. The behavior you describe is how it worked in V15 and 15.5 with the Grandstream-provided templates, but now that I've moved to V16 and the 3CX-provided templates it's not working.

Can I ask what firmware version your GXP2160 currently uses?

1.0.9.132 on all phones.

I tried just pressing the DSS key while on a call, and it just creates a new call on one of the other line keys without transferring the call.

I cannot replicate the behavior you describe, while testing here the blind transfer completes always as described earlier and I'm using the same firmware as you on PBX V16.0.1.273

The destination extension must either answer the call on the other side to complete the blind transfer OR you can hang up and the blind transfer will still be completed without any further actions.

If this does not work for you it may be a good idea to open a ticket for further investigation in case something else is wrong in the instance.

Will do. Thanks for the help!

Well...I've had some strange things happen to me, and this is one of them.

I went to file a support request, and as I did that I took support info from the PBX and started to take a WireShark as well. Wouldn't you know that when I tried to duplicate the issue with WireShark running, it worked just fine?

I've done it several times since then from different phones, and they all work fine now.

Go figure. Thanks again for the help!
