Good morning everyone, in a managed PBX, I can't set the backup to FTP. The PBX shows an error under Select Folder /Path --> "unable to connect to FTP".
The credentials are correct and on all other PBXs it works correctly.
A check has also been made directly from the machine where the 3cx server is located and works from there.
Are there any particular settings concerning the connection to the FTP server directly from the 3cx interface?

Thank you for your answer

All other PBXs = other 3CX instances? Same credentials and path?

All other PBXs are clearly different from each other.
Different folders have been created for each PBX to save backups. They are all on the same server and the credentials are the same for all PBXs to which I will schedule backups on FTP servers.

Hi, did you check logs on the FTP server ? tcpdump ? maybe firewall issue on one side ?

Yeah, we checked. The logs show that the session date always remains closed (when scheduled by the PBX)
We also did tests from the server where the 3cx was installed and from there it works and from the logs you can see that it is successful.
Are there specific settings on 3cx ?

When you edit the FTP parameter and click "ok", 3CX tries to connect, and at that moment says if anything is wrong. Does it work at that time and lists previous backups ?

Once the path and credentials have been entered, it takes 20-30 seconds before the error ("unable to connect to FTP").
Previous backups are not there because this PBX previously had local backup.

what do you see on packet capture ? is user/password accepted ? is it plain FTP ?

I still have to look into packet capture. The user and password in the FTP server logs seem to be accepted.
The server is a simple FTP. Currently on 5 or 6 other PBXs this works without problems.

You havent accidentally blacklisted your 3CX IP on the FTP server have you?

Hi,

Since other machines are ok with that FTP Server I would suggest to copy the settings (Location Type, Path, user/pass) from a machine that works, and try them on this machine.

Ensure that the machine that works has the same PBX version as the one that doesn't work.

Note: Location type is important because SFTP is not the same as FTP

Okay, thanks.
I'll try to do this check

I checked and it still gives me the same error as before

Is this a Windows Server machine?

Please disable your Windows firewall entirely and then try again.
I have noticed the built in firewall blocks traffic for both the FTP command port, and the data transfer ports.

Thank you very much, I will try this test.
I'll let you know as soon as possible

The firewall on this machine is already off. We tried anyway to do a command prompt test to the FTP server and it works correctly (in the logs you can clearly see that the data transfer opens and closes).
By redoing the test from the 3cx server, the problem persists. In the logs in this case the data tranfer always remains closed.

Hi @DRega

Just for the sake of clarity, can you also try and transfer a file to the FTP server via command prompt on the 3CX machine?

Then check if the file was transferred correctly on the FTP server (file size and content)
