Provisioning files not created

Hi Guys,

I've installed a fresh copy of v15 and then upgraded to the latest SP1 but I'm having a problem provisioning a Cisco 7941.

Once the phone is configured under an extension the SEP* file isn't created in the provisioning folder. The provisioning looks to complete OK through the web interface.

Are there any additional logging locations with 3CX that might have some further information?

I'm on v15.0.56772.0 running on Server 2012 R2.

I have been told the Web Engine creates the file on demand only. It does not sit there infinitely as it did in v14 and prior.

Yes you are correct we are generating the files on the fly .
In additional to the guide you need to download the config file and place it in the provisioning folder or in the folder you pointing the cisco to get the file .
From Management Console edit the extension that you configure the cisco go to Phone Provisioning Tab and download the Provisioning Link.
You will download the config file that it will look like this SEP_MAC_.cnf.xml. Then place this file to the folder you pointing the cisco to get the configuration.

Thanks for the clarification. I had worked out that I could just download the file manually and place it in the directory. To be honest this feels like a backward step as far as provisioning is concerned. Can I ask why the files are no longer automatically created in the provisioning directory?

I'm guessing that the non Cisco phones are able to use the URL for provisioning? Is this a subtle move by 3cx to migrate people away from using Cisco phones?

1. Install and configure TFTP Server ( http://www.3cx.com/sip-phones/tftp-server/ );
2. Point it to any folder;
3. Create the extension on 3CX Phone system with correct MAC address and model chosen;
4. After the the extension will be created edit it, go to Phone Provisioning tab and click on Provisioning Link URL;
5. Save the SEPXXXXXX.cnf.xml file in your TFTP folder.
6. Configure Option 66 to the IP address of the TFTP server ( http://www.3cx.com/sip-phones/cisco-7940g-7960g/ ).
Start the phone.

To provision the Cisco 7940 and 7960 you need to the following steps:
1. Install and configure TFTP Server ( http://www.3cx.com/sip-phones/tftp-server/ );
2. Point it to any folder;
3. Create the extension on 3CX Phone system with correct MAC address and model chosen;
4. After the the extension will be created edit it, go to Phone Provisioning tab, click on Provisioning Link URL and download the SIPXXXXXXXXXX.cnf file;
5. Copy Provisioning Link URL, replace "SIPXXXXXXXXXX.cnf" with "SIPDefault.cnf" and download that file too;
6. Move both files in your TFTP folder.
7. Configure Option 66 to the IP address of the TFTP server ( http://www.3cx.com/sip-phones/cisco-7940g-7960g/ ).
Start the phone.
