Hi everybody!

I try to understand the precise difference between the Static Public IP and the Dynamic Public IP setting.

  • which functions require a static public IP?
  • does all traffic have to go trough the static IP (if I sstatic IP is configured): SIP Trunk registration traffic? VoIP traffic? Media and other traffic? 3CX licence check traffic?
  • what effects do I get if the static IP is set wrong or has changed?
  • advantages/disadvantages of a static public ip (If this is not already mentioned above ;))

  • 3CX Version, Professional Perpetual 16.0.3.676
  • Server OS, W10 Pro 1809
  • Is the 3CX Server Hosted and where local On-Prem
  • IP Phone Make/Model/Firmware Different SNOM
  • Provisioning Method: Local
  • Trunk Provider: QSC (Plusnet) IPfonie Extended Connect (Register based)
  • Has the Firewall Checker passed: YES
  • Are custom Phone Templates being used: YES
Cheers!

Sry! Edited the original post.

remote Console access with FQDN, so if IP change you need to wait DNS replication , if you use phone in STUN mode, Apps out of office.

Your PBX has no way to be reach or to call out, if your trunk provider is using ip based you may be unable to register when Public ip has changed for security reasons.

Your windows 10 machine can be upgraded to latest release V1909

One would not even consider using IP based registration if one had a dynamic Public IP. That would just be silly.
