Hello, I represent an alarm monitoring station looking to evaluate 3CX as an option for moving forward. Before getting too far in building a test environment I want to know if 3CX is capable of sending a burst of ANI information and DNIS [Modified] through an analog call.

For instance;
Alarm panel calls from 555-123-1234 and dials 1-800-123-1234 The PBX should be able to re-write the DNIS down to 4 digits (most do this) so I would need 3CX to burst (signal) to the alarm receiving equipment 5551231234*1234

Is this something 3CX can do through a ASA delivering a call to an analog line?

Well the "burst of ANI" is going to be an analog signal passing over VoIP. If this is something in the voice frequency range, such as sending DTMF, then, if the correct Codec were used, possibly. If you are sending data, then you may very well have issues if it is over a certain bit rate. Faxes can work through 3CX, but many do have reliability issues. Some modem connections will work, but again, the speed can be critical, as well as every other "link in the chain" until it hits the PSTN network.

This would all have to be done with customer provided equipment.

When you say DNIS, do you mean the caller ID sent? If you are using an analog line, then the caller ID, assigned to that line, by the provider, is what will be sent.

Yes the burst is DTMF at the beginning of the call, ANI is of course the caller ID presented, DNIS or Dialed Number Identification Service allows me to route based on the number dialed. In a significant portion of my calls I need to be able to pass this down to an FXS port.

Regarding codec G.711U will handle the traffic just fine, but that's another conversation.

You'll have to have a device, or third party software, that is capable of collecting the incoming DID number, converting to DTMF, and then initiating a transfer on the outbound PSTN line, sending the DTMF upon answer (If answer supervision woks on the DTMF line), then connecting the caller.

With all due respect as I am coming from a perspective of ignorance, is this not the job of the PBX to route and signal calls?

3CX will route incoming calls to extensions, or forward to an outside number. Internally, information such as the DID number, caller ID, DID name, ring group name, and a few more, can be sent to a VoIP extension. When the call is transferred back out, over a trunk, there is a limitation as to what can be passed on. In most cases, using an outbound SIP trunk, it will simply be the caller ID, and perhaps the name, depending on your provider. You might also have a look at what can be done with the Call Flow Designer...

Out of the box, 3CX does not pass on digits (caller ID, or DID numbers) using DTMF, as I said, there may be an add-on, from a third party, that can accomplish what you want, that, or a physical device, that is able to collect the information, then deal with the call in a manner that suits you

I think I am not explaining correctly, but it sounds like the answer is no. This saves quite a bit of time, thank you.
