Hello,

I had a situation recently where a client's recordings briefly stopped due to the recordings folder meeting the quota.

The "Send email when size of local recordings folder reach 90% of quota" email was sent and this was investigated at the time but unfortunately the limit not increased.

That was the only email we received - is there any way the system can be set to repeatedly send emails once the quota has been hit and the recordings stopped?

If not, is there an internal log file I can watch using my monitoring?

This is thankfully a very rare event but I'd prefer to have a mechanism in place just in case the original notification email is missed.

Many thanks,

Jamie

I'm sure there would be an entry in the event log of the PBX too.

But, if you got the notification and nothing was done as a result of then that sounds like an admin problem.

Email wasnt missed, admin decided not to do anything about it.

I would set the quota lower so this doesnt happen again. Maybe you'll notice the space being used if you hop on and off in the interim.

Hi @JamieR,

We suggest checking the file system to follow the file size (outside of receiving the email), or checking it from the management console in the Recordings section - as it gives you the amount of space used next to the quota which is faster and easier than checking any file system.

Yes I fully agree, unfortunately the chap in question elected not to increase the quota.

But what I would like is a way of knowing as soon as the recordings have stopped - i.e. another email - not just one email notifying us that x % of the quota has been reached.

Hi @JamieR,

It's unfortunate that this happened, however I feel like that this is more of a human error rather than a system error. If the disk is filling up (not specifically the recording quota), you'd receive another "lockdown" email whereby the system only has 500MB remaining and will stop logging and recording. This is the only way I see to receive a second email, however it shouldn't be necessary as I'd expect the admins prioritise the emails regarding quota and deal with it sooner rather than later.

If you host a large number of 3CX servers, I would encourage you to take a look at our 3CX Hosted Billing tool. In addition to collecting all the information you need to generate invoices, we also provide real-time stats on the health of your 3CX servers -- including your hard disk utilization.

We can discuss your ideas for how notifications should happen so we can make that work for you. The cost is $2 per month per server. In my view, that's a whole lot cheaper / easier than having someone count extensions every month, or reviewing disk utilization, etc.
