Reinstall 3CX - old server license

Hi there

I'm moving my 3cx from my homelab to a vultr vm - once I click the reinstall button in the 3cx panel, will it deactivate my old license immediately, or do I have a few hours to get everything moved over and re-set back up.

(I don't want to restore from a backup as I did some tinkering on the OS so I want to start fresh but be able to reference the old box GUI.)

Why not Backup your 3cx with fqdn and license and restore this when you install 3cx on vulture vm

3cx backups does not backup the os, only the 3cx configuration.

If you want to start from scratch - disable internet on your current system - so that you do not have issues with fqdn , ssl certificate and licensing when you install the new system

Install 3cx, and then you can reference your old system without causing issues

Just backup and restore. The OS isn't backed up in this, only 3CX data.

What @Saqqara and @ConceptsWeb said are absolutely right, the only thing I would suggest is considering installing on a tested/supported Hosting Provider.

With these, Installation can be done via the Customer Portal, and for most there is also a Marketplace configuration guide if you search for it.

Everything is working as expected on the new box. The only difference now since the 3cx is not local, I have set up a SBC.

One thing I noticed when provisioning my Grandstream ATA is that when the SBC option is selected, 3CX provides a provisioning URL via WAN (with no user/pass auth etc).

Is this the correct functionality (meaning is this secure/safe to have that xml file is accessible by anyone over wan?)

Every extension, no matter if 3CX is local or remote, has it's provisioning file available with no auth. 3CX is relying on the random 11 character provisioning subdir being unknown combined with needing a mac registered with the system (I need both to get your config file). Usually if local the provisioning URL is usually http / 5000 and if remote it's https / 5001. The block WAN option can help if credentials are stolen to prevent someone from using them.

Technically you could also inbound block 5001 except from your IPs and that would stop this, but that's unsupported and can break stuff for mobile app users, etc.
