I have a ring group setup for my customer, it is setup as a ring all, it rings two extensions. if one person is on the phone, it rings the other phone, but if the person that is on the phone needs to answer the second call; they want to be able to place the call on hold and pickup the second call. the problem is when they place the call on hold their phone does not start ringing so they can pick it up. This is a basic receptionist job. I have been told by 3cx support that the only way to answer the second call is to use 3cxphone.

We will be adding a second location and would like to use a Ring Group to ring both phones when someone calls a primary DID. The problem with this, in its current state, is that we can only deal with one call at a time when either line is being used. It would certainly be nice to have a second or third call ring through, at either location, even when the lines are in-use. Surely this is something that can be implemented without the need to alter Parameter Settings, which supposedly cause other issues with the PBX.

Does anybody know if this is actually been fixed yet or is it simply use the unsupported parameter change as I have quite a few small customers who are looking at 3cx but without this function its useless if you have a small office with a couple of staff one is on holiday or away

+1 to add to a build. I wonder sometimes if the development team actually USES this system...

I've had this option enabled on my 3CX installation since version 9, over 6 years, and never had any issues. I don't know why it is still "Not Supported".

We are new to 3CX having only done four installs, but we already have customers asking for this feature.

@bkeat Could you program one of your BLFs as a "Pickup" and custom speed dial of * 20 *
This is the default pickup

This should be the default setting. That answer below that was post before does resolve the issue and when a person gets a second ring group call they now get an Answer button and it auto places the current caller on hold. They you can swap calls or transfer a call off and resume the previous.

Issue – Second call is not presented to user when answering calls via Ring groups

1. Go to settings then Parameters
2. Use the search bar, and type in – ALLOWUSEBUSYOPTFORGROUP
3. Change the Value to 1
Multiple calls from a ring group will now be presented to users.

I have this in place and have had no side effects at every customer I have. I would prefer for it to be supported. I have been installing Cisco and other VOIP systems for almost 17 years. Being able to notify a receptionist for example that another call in inbound is a requirement for almost all my customers. My installs include 10 user to multi-thousand user systems. All sizes have areas that need this requirement. Here is an example: Company has 2 receptionists that are geographically located (or in the same office if you prefer). Receptionist 1(of 2) calls receptionist 2. They chat about a few work topics and maybe update each other on their personal lives for a minute or 2(human beings do this). The call lasts for 3 minutes. 1 minute into the conversation a customer calls. There is no opportunity for both receptionists to notice there is a call inbound and then answer it so the customer suffers. Sure they could be staring at the switchboard console to look for new calls but what if the conversation between receptionists require them to open work documents that take up their screen and they can't see the switchboard...or their eyes wonder. My best guess is there is a technical hurdle that is close to impossible to solve that may affect certain phone models etc...I am not really sure but all other voip systems I have sold have had this feature. My take on 3CX is it is a great system with trade-offs like other systems...I just wish they would support this feature. On a side note hosted "by 3CX" does not let you change parameters so you can't work around this which is a bummer.

As we are selling the system more and especially for small installs everyone expects the ring groups to work this way.

It has come up repeatedly and looking to replace 8x8 for someone who wants this feature. I will have to see about running in house so we can enable the feature.
