Ring mobile simultaneously does not take the Forwarding Rules into account

Hello,

for my collegue his cell phone, I have created a dedicated Extension number and configured the 3CX app on his Android Phone. Then for his desk phone, I configured that extension number as "mobile number" and set the option "ring mobile simultaneously".
When he gets a call on his desk phone, his mobile rings and is able to take the call.

Then we set the Forwarding Rule - Away for his mobile to "drop call" but tests reveal that 3CX does not take this setting into account when his desk phone rings. When we ring his mobile directly, this setting is OK.

Can it be that this is a bug?
Is there a (temporary) workaround?

Mario

Hi Mario,

There is a difference between calling your colleague's extension that is set up on his mobile, and having his office extension call his mobile simultaneously.

Setting his office extension to dial his mobile at the same time does just that. It dials his mobile number, not his 3cx mobile extension. Thus setting his mobile 3cx extension to away will have no effect on his office extension's behaviour.

I normally use the same extension for the desk phone and the mobile app. That way, if the user sets one of them as away, both the mobile app and the desk phone are set that way, but they're able to use whichever piece of equipment is more convenient to take or make calls.

Another way you could achieve what I think you're after is to set up a ring group with both the desk and mobile extensions in it and have people dial that. If one of them is set as away, the other one will still ring though. If both of them are set as away, you can set a rule on the ring group for what action to take.
Hope this helps.

J.

You are setting this to send a call to the mobile device, using two routes simultaneously. I don't understand why you would do this. Pick one, or the other. Either ring the mobile, using the mobile provider number, or ring the mobile device, using the 3CX App.
