Can Router IP Phones (ex Yealink T57W) be configured as High Availability Cluster, or are there plans to make it so that it will be available any time soon?

No they can't. I would expect not since the setup needs a floating IP address. Plus they can only work up to 10 phones, and with under 10 it's probably easier/better to just have each phone be its own SBC, which also makes the phones portable.

I didn't think that it needed to be dynamic. I statically assigned a couple at a specific location we have. Am I missing something there???

Not sure I understand your question? I was addressing the reliability factor of one SBC not taking down multiple phones. That can’t happen if they each handle themselves.

you had stated, "...setup needs a floating IP address." I took it that you were saying the router IP phone has to get its address via DHCP as opposed to being statically assigned an address outside of DHCP scope. I have two router IP phones at one location that I have statically assigned their IP address to. I was just checking with you to see if I made a mistake by doing that. They seem to be working great so far. I just wanted to make sure.

by the way... thank you for chatting with me :)

No they cannot - if you need HA then setup dedicated SBC machines.

As an alternative, if all your phones are SBC capable, then you can set each one to be a router phone individually. This way SBC HA will not be needed. If the phone goes down, it only affects itself.

is it OK to have router phones that are being used as "SBC" to register with system set for DHCP? Or, is it better to statically assign them?

George! thanks, my bruddah:). perfect thread to answer my questions.
