SBC ports need to be opened on a firewall

Hi there!

I have read on several posts that if a remote SBC is behind a firewall, then only the ports 5090 and 5001 should be opened and that's only for outgoing traffic. But I still have a couple of questions that I would like to be clarified:

1. On none of the posts I found the port protocol was mentioned. I supposed it should be TCP and that's what I did. Tests I did in the weekend, when installed the firewall were just fine, making calls to and from my mobile phone. I have to note that the tests were via a Fanvil deskphone. But today I got complains from colleagues who were using a softphone (Windows 3CX app), that the other party didn't hear them. So I also opened the UDP protocol of these two ports and it looks like the problems were solved. Could someone confirm if opening of TCP & UDP 5090 & 5001 is what is needed for a remote SBC?
2. Are there any other ports that I should open on our firewall? If yes, please also clarify if that should be incoming/outgoing and what protocol(s).

Hi @TheodorosG_3CX!

I realize that only the port 5090 needs to be in both UDP and TCP protocols and the port 5001 needs only to be opened in TCP protocol.

In the meantime, it's still not clear there if that should be opened for outgoing traffic or incoming.

There are no inbound ports/ports forwards to allow at the location with the SBC. It connects out to the 3CX server.
