So my question is, do SBC's running V16 need to be updated to V18 when 3CX PBX is upgraded to V18, as I have several remote customers running SBC's on RP 3+? I've done a few PBX upgrades to V18 and I've tried updating the SBC's via the management console and nothing happens. Everything seems to still work with the SBC V16, so that's why I'm asking if you have to upgrade them or is it just nice to have, to keep up kind of thing? I've looked everywhere and don't see anything stating they need to be updated, so let me know. Thanks.

So it sounds like you already have the answer to your question. Since you've already done v16 to v18 upgrades and didn't upgrade the SBC, it would seem than they don't *need* to be upgraded. But there is a v18 SBC for a reason, so I would start figuring out why your v16 SBCs aren't upgrading, or figure out how to manually upgrade them before you do need to.

@ChrisC_3CX, The issue is the current SBC's are RP 3+'s and the instructions are for RP 4's. And I know you're going to say it's time to upgrade the Pi's also, but they are remote and would be a major deal to get them upgraded... I'm assuming 3CX will give plenty of time heads up that SBC V16 End of Support like they did with 3CX v16 EOS 11/22?

You should be able to upgrade the SBC software on Pi 3s to v18, I've done it. If it's not working see if you can find errors logged.

It won't upgrade the Pi OS so longer term 3CX recommends format/reinstall (just use the same IP address). From other threads, the Raspberry folks don't recommend the OS upgrade which is definitely frustrating as it would mean on site visits, shipping a storage card (if you have a spare Pi to install/configure it on) or moving to a VM or Windows or other solution.

I have Pi 2 and 3's out there running v18 no problem.

As @SteveITS said, you should be able to upgrade the 3CX SBC to v18 keeping your current Raspbian Stretch OS. So no need to worry about v16 reaching EoL. As @SteveITS also mentioned though, we do recommend you also re-flash the SD with Debian 10 when you get the chance. As far as I know this should work for the Pi 3B+ too.

In the meantime, give what was mentioned here a go: https://www.3cx.com/community/threads/sbc-wont-update.84326/post-394411

Thanks all and Happy Holidays!
