Search contacts from CRM

Hi, I see there is a new feature search contacts from CRM, https://www.3cx.com/blog/releases/windows-softphone-beta5/
My question is this feature query from CRM directly, or query from PBX then 3CX PBX query from CRM to return the result to softphone?
This is related my customer's firewall rules - if the softphone query is from CRM directly, we have to create a firewall rule to allow this access to the ZOHO.

It all goes through the PBX, queries are sent from the system only.
